Purchase of a specialist cutting head for cutting willow.
Trevor Thompson is a beef and sheep farmer who decided to diversify his business 4 years ago and joined with his brother, David, to grow willow. The brothers planted a vast area of their land with willow 3 years ago and have also had a drying floor installed (The only one in Fermanagh). They have decided to keep these two businesses separate with Trevor operating the cutting business and David operating the delivery business from a single base. The project services throughout Fermanagh and the surrounding areas.
Funded under Axis 3, through SWARD, the applicant purchased a specialist cutting head. As there is only one cutter of this type in Northern Ireland the demand for this service is high and the promoter already has a list clients who wish for him to cut their willow once it has matured.
