The extension and renovation of an onfarm asset - gatelodge cottage - into a 5 start self catering tourist accommodation facility.
The promoter, Robert Moore, took over the family farm in 1980 which concentrates mostly on arable production and purebred suckler beef cattle. As returns from the family farm were declining he and his wife decided to explore alternative ways of supporting the farm income. They decided that the most economically viable option was to utilise an existing farm asset, a gatelodge cottage. The cottage was built in the 1800's
The items funded included the build of the self catering cottage and associated marketing to develop the Molenan Cottage brand. The cottage has been extensively renovated but still retains many of the traditional aspects of its original character.
