Purchase a shaving mill which will allow the applicant to produce his own shavings from wooden logs.
Historically the applicant had been buying in shavings and sawdust from joinery workshops and saw mills, receiving on a weekly basis 2 x 40ft lorry loads of product. The applicant would then store the shavings on his farm and sell on by the bag or bulk load. The only equipment that the applicant had invested in, prior to SOAR funding, was a grinder than could reduce the size of wooden chips into fine chips / saw dust.
He could then use his current grinder for reducing the shavings into saw dust alongside the new purchase. His product range could also be extended by having the ability to produce rough or fine shavings, which could be produced by putting the wooden logs through the saw mill.
