Upcoming Events from the Rural Network

25 June 2010

The Rural Network for Northern Ireland is planning a busy calendar of events over the next few months. Included are events to celebrate the work of the Village Renewal Thematic Working Group and the Co-operation Working Group.

The Village Renewal Thematic Working Group was established last year and has engaged participants from each of the 7 Local Action Groups. The aim of the working group has been to evaluate approaches to village renewal and development and its work has taken it to villages engaged in rural regeneration. A final seminar is planned for September which will update on the past work of the Group. Further details will follow.

Also planned for the Autumn is a seminar of the Co-operation Working Group, which will involve a range of speakers on a number of themes which may benefit from the co-operation approach. It will involve strategic partners, both local and further afield. Again further detail to follow.

The topic of Social/Care Farming will be discussed at a seminar planned for August, to which Axes representatives will be invited.

Rural Policy Division within DARD has conducted research into this area and the seminar will allow for information sharing and discussion to explore opportunities under the Rural Development Programme for this type of activity.

The Rural Network has also produced a Mid Term Evaluation Factsheet - please visit the website to view this factsheet, which provides

uptodate information on the aims and current status of the evaluation. Other factsheets produced are also available to view.
