Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 release date

29 April 2010

The Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure (NIMDM) 2010 report will be released on 26 May 2010. This release will include Output Area level results and summary results at higher geographies.

From 26 May 2010 the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 will be the official measure of spatial deprivation in Northern Ireland. Until 26 May 2010 the NIMDM 2005 remains the official measure of spatial deprivation in Northern Ireland.

The main output geography for the NIMDM 2010 is the Super Output Area (SOA) level. SOAs have an average population of approximately 2,000 people. SOA level results were released on 31 March 2010 and are available from the NISRA deprivation website

Small area population estimates will be released at the Output Area and Electoral Ward levels on 27 May 2010. The small area population estimates relate to the usually resident population of Northern Ireland including Her Majesty’s Forces stationed here and cover the period mid-2001 to mid-2008. The small area population estimates are currently available at Super Output Area level from the Small Area Population Estimate website

"i'd encourage everyone to take a look at this which should hopefully help applicants to the rdp to provide a more up to date picture of their area, reflecting the changes in recent years, also helping those distributing funds to target their programmes more effectively"
