Successful Axis 3 Networking

10/10/2011

'Networking Across the Clusters and Beyond' was declared a success by those who attended the Networking residential on 6/7 October 2011 in Corrs Corner Hotel, Newtownabbey.

The 2 day event, which was organised by Rural Network NI, was attended by almost 100 representatives involved in delivery of Axis 3 of the NI Rural Development Programme.

The event began with a welcome to the area by local LAG chairperson Vera McWilliam.  This was followed by the Scottish LEADER perspective overview from Ros Halley of Drumfries & Galloway LEADER.

Presentations were then delivered by Eddie Downey (Irish Farmers Association) who relayed findings from research on The Irish Countryside - A place for living, working, enjoyment.  Judit Torok from ENRD discussed the value and benefits of Networking, highlighting experiences from across Europe. Keith Morrison (DARD) provided an update on the new Rural Development Programme.

Day 2 witnessed an indepth presentation from Petri Rinne, President of ELARD on LEADER post 2013.

During day 2, each of the 7 clusters delivering Axis 3 funding, were asked to showcase the successes of their area in an innovative, engaging and enjoyable way.  Much enthusiasm and effort was demonstrated from all clusters and the winner was announced as SWARD.

As a result of this success, RNNI will now work with SWARD to identify a study visit to Ireland, UK or Europe.

Copies of the presentations are available to download here.
