Social Economy Show and Tell success

05/10/2009

The Rural Network for Northern Ireland in conjunction with the Social Economy Network organised an informative 'show and tell' event in the Millennium Centre, Loughgiel, Co Antrim on 23rd September 2009.

This half day event focused on the work of the Social Economy sector where 10 Local Action Group (LAG) Members, representing 4 of the Axis 3 Clusters, attended the session. The event provided an opportunity for the LAG members to witness social economy in action through the work of Loughgiel Community Association. The Association was established in 1988 to create employment and it is now the largest employer in the area, employing 29 staff. Presentations were also provided on support available to the sector from the Social Economy Network, Social Entrepreneurship Programme and Ulster Community Investment Trust (UCIT). For more information on the work of these organisations contact Joyce McMullan at the Rural Network on 028 8676 6980. The Rural Network for Northern Ireland prepared its 3rd factsheet for this event, which provided more information on the Social Economy sector.
