Short Supply Chain Working Group established

Arising from the workshop on Short Supply Chains (SSC) held during the National Rural Network meeting in April a working group on Short Supply Chains has now been established and a useful ‘definition dossier’ issued by the French Rural Network.

The document includes background information on SSC and outlines the aim of the working group including developing knowledge on short supply chains; using promotional tools to provide information to consumers to support growth in the sale of products; supporting partnerships which add value for producers and consumers.

The French Rural Network has included a short survey seeking views on defining SSC, what level of support exists in different regions and how best to support their development.

The Rural Network for Northern Ireland will liaise with the French Network to feed in views and will keep Network members up to date with the ongoing work  and progress of the working group.
