New LAG Event Held in Brussels

The European Network for Rural Development organised a new LAG Event "Leader as a driver for Rural Europe: workshop for new local action groups" on the 19-20 January, 2011 in Brussels.

The objective of the meeting was to revitalise the EU dimension of Leader for new/less experienced LAGs, increase awareness of the strategic role of Leader for rural development; and facilitate the exchange of experiences and practice on the implementation of the method.

Representatives from GROW South Antrim, ARC North West and Rural Network NI joined 300 LAGs who took part in the event, aiming to provide new LAGs with advice and further training relating to: previous experience in terms of Leader implementation; efficiently implementing their Local Development Strategy; and best-practice in terms of transnational cooperation. Members of the EN RD Leader sub-committee were also represented at the event.

Presentations and reports from the event are now available on the EN RD website: http://enrd.ec.europa.eu/en-rd-events-and-meetings/enrd-seminars/en/leader-as-a-driver-for-rural-europe_en.cfm
