Across the Axis an Excellent Networking Event (16-6-09)

The 'Across the Axis' Information Sharing event was held on June 15th at the Rural College. The event brought 78 delegates from Local Action Groups, Joint Committees and delivery agents of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme together to share information and knowledge. There were also a variety of supporting organisations in attendance including UCIT; Social Economy Network; DARD Rural Enterprise Advisors; InvestNI and International Fund for Ireland. The guest speaker on the day was Nia Griffiths from the Wales Network who gave a real insight into the implementation of the Network in Wales. Event Summary Report Overall the feedback we have recieved has been very positive with most finding it extremely useful. The success of the event will allow us to plan for future Network activity including; seminars, meetings, events, thematic groups and study visits. Some comments from the events are as follows; "Very well organised", "Excellent Networking event", "One of the best! Congratulations we need more of these type of information sessions". On the day participants were asked to give their views via a 'Talking Wall' on various aspects of the NIRDP including the role of the Network; Enterprise; Village Renewal and the Rural Economy.
